Insilico Medicine, Director, Virtual Human Project
Dr. Quentin Vanhaelen is the director of Virtual Human Project at Insilico Medicine, a Hong-Kong-based bioinformatics and deep learning company focused on reinventing drug discovery and biomarker development. Dr. Vanhaelen graduated from University of Brussels (ULB) with a master’s degree in theoretical physics. He pursued a PhD in physics in Brussels from 2006 to 2010 while performing several projects within the field of system biology. After completing his PhD, he moved to Canada from 2011 to 2013 to work at the Ottawa Hospital Research Institute (OHRI). He founded his consultancy company, Insilicoscreen, focused on the analysis of signaling pathways dynamics. This company was later acquired by Insilico Medicine in 2015. Dr. Vanhaelen has authored and co-authored several publications on different topics such as non-equilibrium thermodynamics of fluid-fluid interface, evolutionary theories of aging and computational analysis of signaling pathway dynamics.
